The events of βThe Ninth Dayβ of The Intensive Course in Erbil
To continue the intensive course For You Institute gathered Access Students from Kirkuk, Tikrit, and Ninawa Plain (Alqoush, Qaraqosh, Bashiqa, and Mosul) in Erbil to give them a chance to interact with each other. This created a sense of community, and these gatherings are made more unique and significant when each group plays its part.
To help our students learn more about social work, a field that is vital to our society but rarely gets attention, and its roles and duties. The lecturer, Mr. Stefan Gamperl presented a lecture about it. The instructor then questioned Access students, “What are the general socioeconomic problems that Iraqis face? “And how people handle such issues, for instance, how can a person overcome a hardship or a challenging circumstance if he or she doesn’t have a supportive family or friend?β. The students then started to respond to these questions, and the instructor continued his presentation by highlighting the responsibilities and importance of a social worker in hospitals and schools.
Afterwards, Mr. Mustafa (For You Institute instructor from Kirkuk) engaged all Access students in a range of fun activities. The activities were actively engaged in by all of them.
After that, in her inspiring speech, Mrs. Sara, a Grants Officer Representative (GOR) of the American embassy in Baghdad, urged the students to put up their best efforts, make the most of this program, learn English fluently, and make these days of their life unforgettable since they will pass quickly and hone their social skills in order to succeed.
Finally, we all shared a meal and enjoyed our first day in Erbil. Following that, each team departed for a return journey to its own city.
