About Us…
For You Institute is an independent and nonprofit organization founded after the liberation of Iraq and dedicated to preparing young people for leadership in its scientific, educational and cultural sectors. In its role of rebuilding the social and economic infrastructure of Iraq, the Institute’s mission is to compensate for the significant shortages of talented and skilled professionals within Iraq’s scientific and cultural institutions and develop a new generation of leaders to take responsibility for rebuilding their communities and nation.
For You Institute was founded in 2009 in response to the deteriorating security situation in Iraq. Students faced multiple barriers to accessing higher education. Fewer and fewer university seats were available, getting to and from lectures was difficult if not dangerous, financial problems were rampant, university professors and professionals were fleeing, and universities were undergoing constant power outages and lacked even basic services needed for a learning atmosphere.
For You Institute accomplishes its mission through many educational and cultural activities. For university students, the Institute supports those attending universities locally and abroad by providing financial and social support. For communities, the Institutes offers free English courses, teacher development classes, and many community activities such as clean-up projects, tree planning and team building exercises. All of these activities aim to establish a core of informed, skilled and dedicated professionals for a brighter future.
