My name is Ahmed Muwafaq, I was a student in the English Access Micro Scholarship program which started in 2011 at “For You” Institute, now I am working at “For You Institute” as an administrator in the Access program, I applied for “Access” at the beginning just to learn English language but, I didn’t know that the Access program will really change my life overall, I found out it’s not only English language, but also there are cultural lectures which had a big influence on my life, I have learned different things with commemorating American celebration and history such as, Black history, the story of Martin Luther king taught me that we have to work harder for our dreams in order to come true, and each one of those cultural activity had an effect on my personality.
The access program encouraged me to study hard and work for my aims which are: self-confidence, learning English, helping people, etc.., gradually most of them came true , some of the activities were outside of the institute like “Earth day” which refer to USA culture, on that day we planted some trees and picked trash up in some parks in Kirkuk city, through that we had learned how can we protect our environment,
My classmates were from different ethnics and languages like ; Arabs, Turkmens and Ashyriens , it was a very important part for me because I had bad ideas about other ethnics but, staying with them in one place under Access umbrella changed my thoughts about them and made it a very strong friendship,
I prepared a short video for the graduation ceremony and that was right after making a group for that purpose, I made a group named “SIX STARS ” I gathered five of my friends from the program and we had made a short report about the program and ourselves which was shown in the graduation ceremony.
Access program motivated me to improve my life and seek for more knowledge. So, I studied psychology in a training course, during the next Access program at “For You Institute” I hoped to have an opportunity to work as a volunteer in the institute, fortunately they gave me a chance to give some lectures about personal development to the students, And they were very much excited with lectures and the administration staff realized that I have some abilities to work with them, so, they got me involved with the work and gradually I found myself as an administrator of the Access program at for you institute, I promised to work as much as I can to benefit the other teenagers as I benefited from the program.
